I know I know, running your own business can be very overwhelming. I remember in 2018 when I started, I had NO idea where to search for things or what I even need. To hopefully make it easier on someone else, here is a list of tools and resources I use on a daily basis as a business owner. Honestly I could not live without any of these.
Client Communication
Zoom
I’m sure since the whole pandemic crazines, we’ve all heard of zoom. A video sharing platform is essential for our business when I’m meeting with prospective clients, meeting the team or for our live design intensive sessions.
Loom
Loom is the industry leading screen recording tool. Another integral part of my business. Loom allows you to record your screen and camera with one click. You can easily share that content in an instant with a link. It saves me so many meetings + you can always look back and refer to the recordings! I primarily use it for ‘explainer’ videos and tutorials for my clients.
Design Software
Adobe Creative Suite
ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR - a tool I could not live without. Adobe is a design software for creating vector graphics. I use it every single day to design your beautiful logos, illustrations and branding elements.
ADOBE AFTER EFFECTS - is where I play around creating logo animations.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP - where I bring all of my designs to life through mockup creation (making those ‘real life’ examples of how the branding is incorporated). It is the best way for the client to get a clear idea of how everything will work together in the end.
Canva
I know, super controversial for a designer to say, but here me out. Most of my clients aren’t super ‘techy’ so canva is a GREAT resource which serves them to keep their brand cohesive on social media. I always design templates for clients in Canva. Yes I create some custom graphics but still, even by itself it is super easy to use and not to mention - free!
Creative Assets (Fonts, Mockups, Graphics)
Moyo Studio
My go-to mockup shop. They offer such a huge variety of gorgeous mockups to choose from as well as stunning stock imagery.
