Setting up a Squarespace Coming Soon Page
Creating a Coming Soon Page
A polished coming soon page is the easiest way to build excitement before launch. It lets you collect emails early, gives you a professional online presence while the rest of your site is under construction, and provides a simple place to send traffic until everything is ready.
In this guide, I will show you how to set up a clean, on-brand Squarespace coming soon page. You will learn how to choose the right goal, add the right sections, make it mobile friendly, and set it as the only page visitors can see while you build in the background.
Watch the walkthrough of how to set up a coming soon page in Squarespace
Step 1: Set the goal for your coming soon page
Decide what you want this page to do. Pick one primary goal so the design stays focused.
Inform visitors that your website is coming soon
Collect emails and grow your newsletter list
Offer a way to inquire through a contact form
Step 2: Create the page
Go to Pages.
Click the + icon and choose Blank Page.
Name it Coming Soon so you can find it easily later.
Click Edit to start designing.
Step 3: Add essential blocks
Inside the page editor, use content blocks to build a simple hero with a clear message.
Image Block for a clean background or brand photo
Heading with a short line such as “Something new is coming”
Text for one or two sentences explaining what to expect
Form Block so people can reach out before launch
Social Links or a small section that points to Instagram for updates
Step 4: Check mobile and refine spacing
Click the mobile preview to make sure your headline, image, and form stack neatly.
Adjust padding so the form sits above the fold. Keep everything simple and scannable.
Step 5: Set the coming soon page as your homepage
Open the Settings for your Coming Soon page.
Scroll to General and select Set as Homepage.
Now anyone who visits your domain will land on this page first.
Step 6: Hide navigation so visitors only see the coming soon page
Since the rest of your site is not ready, remove distractions.
Go back to the Settings for the Coming Soon page.
Find Navigation and toggle options to Hide header and footer if your template supports it.
Keep your in-progress pages as Draft or move them to Not Linked so they are not visible.
From the visitor’s perspective, your Squarespace coming soon page becomes the only viewable page. From your perspective, you can keep building the rest of the site in peace.
Step 7: Launch and update later
Once your new website is ready:
Open the settings for your true homepage.
Under General, select Set as Homepage.
You can delete the coming soon page or simply hide it for future use.
